About us

The camel meadow… well, it used to be just an ordinary patch of green.

It used to be a meadow where grass was turned into cosy hay bales a few times a year, and that was about it.

My father loved having something beautiful around him. In the evenings he often browsed online marketplaces, looking for something to give our meadow more character. He had his heart set on (mini) donkeys, stubborn, charming animals that would suit our little place.

During one of those searches he met a man who sold donkeys. As sometimes happens, that man had more to offer. "I've got some other beautiful animals too," he said, and he meant it. Besides donkeys he had tapirs, reindeer, alpacas… and yes, camels.

That's how the first two female camels came to our meadow. Camels are wonderful animals: gentle, social, and always up for a cuddle. From that moment I couldn't wait to care for them together. That was the start of our shared adventure.

Camels are true herd animals, so it didn't stop at two. More joined, calves were born, and today our herd counts twelve beautiful camels.

The meadow kept growing: we now have thirteen alpacas and two pigs, a cross of pot-bellied pig and Kune Kune. The camels remain our focus and our name, but the whole place breathes farm life.

We look ahead to staying overnight on the meadow, day activities, and more ways to visit, always with respect for the animals and the peace of the land.

Whether you're curious about our camels' daily antics, want to admire their funny ways, or simply fancy a bit of farm adventure: you're very welcome. Browse our story and photos. Perhaps we'll see you soon on our camel meadow!
